Care Instructions — Make Your Gear Last
Care Instructions — Make Your Gear Last
Spirit wear should survive the whole season (and the next kid). Here's how to care for each type of gear we make.
Printed & Screen-Printed Apparel (tees, hoodies, crew necks)
- Turn inside out before washing — this is the single biggest thing you can do.
- Machine wash cold, gentle cycle, with like colors.
- No bleach, no fabric softener (softener breaks down prints over time).
- Hang dry or tumble dry low. High heat is what cracks prints.
- Never iron directly on a printed design — iron inside out if needed.
Embroidered Apparel (embroidered hoodies, hats)
- Wash inside out in cold water on gentle.
- Skip the bleach — it fades embroidery thread unevenly.
- Air dry when possible; embroidery holds its shape best without high heat.
- If threads snag, don't pull — trim carefully or email us for advice.
Sublimated Jerseys & Uniforms
- Sublimation is dyed into the fabric — it won't crack or peel — but wash cold anyway to protect the fabric itself.
- Wash jerseys separately or with athletic wear; zippers and velcro chew up jersey fabric.
- Hang dry — never high heat, which can warp performance fabric.
- No ironing.
Hats, Beanies & Snapbacks
- Spot clean with mild soap and a soft brush — don't machine wash structured hats.
- Knit winter hats: hand wash cold, lay flat to dry.
Blankets & Snuggies
- Machine wash cold on gentle, tumble dry low.
- Wash separately the first time — fleece sheds a little when new.
Quick rule for everything we make: cold water, inside out, low or no heat. Questions about a specific item? Email info@towngearessentials.com.
